Hotel
There are no cheap hotels in Zagreb – most of the older ones have been refurbished and their prices have risen to category B. United Nations employees also contributed to the high prices, who apparently liked these places for their quarters. Prices are often too high, and the hotel staff act like this, as if he was doing a grace giving someone a free room.
If the tourist is forced to spend the night in Zagreb, he should be prepared to spend exorbitant sums, especially in hotels. A solution may be to book a seat on a night bus to Split or Dubrovnik.
Central Hotel (Branimirova 3, tel.425777), opposite the train station, has 110 rooms, in prices 50 i 76 $ for one room- and a double room with a bathroom; Breakfast is included in the price.
6-two-story hotel Astońa (Petrinjska 71, tel.430444), not far from the Omladinski hotel, has 130 rooms after 64 i 109 $ for one room- and a double room with bathroom and breakfast included in the price.
6-two-story hotel Jadran (Wallachia 50, tel.4553777), not far from the center, offers single rooms- and doubles with shower after 57 i 84 $; breakfast included.
The 5-star Esplanade hotel is waiting for the richest tourists (tel.435666) next to the train station (186 i 240 $ for one room- and double plus tax; bathroom and breakfast included in the price). This 6-storey hotel was built in 1924 r. and has 215 very elegant rooms. There is a casino right next to it.
Gastronomy
Restaurants and fast-food restaurants One of the most elegant places in the city is undoubtedly the Paviljon restaurant, located in the yellow exhibition pavilion in front of the railway station, on the other side of the park. Main courses (Italian cuisine) from 10 $ upwards. The fresh fish and local wines in Split are also delicious, at Ilica 19. On summer evenings, restaurants with tables outside in Tkalćicieva Street invite you to enjoy regional dishes in an authentic atmosphere., above the Jelaćić Trog.
In summer, the tables outside are also displayed by the pizzeria Delfino in Deżmanova 2, on the corner of Ilica, which serves a not very expensive pizza. Slavija restaurant at Juriśicieva 18, in the center, it has a pleasant decor and serves delicious spaghetti for the price 6 $. In the Medulić restaurant, Medulićeva 2, on the corner of Ilica, they serve vegetarian dishes in the back room.
Palaćinke at Ilica, opposite Tomićev, is a bustling fast food bar, where you can snack on a salad or a sandwich.
It is worth visiting the place called Pivnica Miedvedgrad – Zagreb's only mini-brewery with four types of excellent mug beer, which is brewed on the spot (behind a large glass pane); Here you can also enjoy delicious regional cuisine.
Cafes and bars
Rock Forum Cafe (Gajeva Street 13) located at the back of the sculpture garden of the Archaeological Museum, and across the street is the Hard Rock Cafe, full of memorabilia from the years 50. i 60. A bit further behind the Hard Rock Cafe, the charming Art Cafe Thalia is located in the passage. There are cafes in the busy complex at the corner of Teslina and Gajeva Streets, art galleries and music stores. In the evenings in cafes in Tkalćicieva, north of the Jelaćić River, life is teeming with people and people go out into the street with drinks in their hands. Tomislav pub (Tomislav Square 18) located in front of the bus station, near the park, is a popular local bar, where you can drink inexpensive mug beer.
Entertainment
Zagreb is full of cultural events. Most of them (but not all) is mentioned in the monthly Zagreb Events Performances brochure, which can be obtained from tourist information offices.
It is also worth browsing the usually rich theatrical repertoire. Usually even the best shows are bought tickets. A small office with the words Kazaliste Komedija on it (look for posters) in Blagasija Oktogon, a passage connecting Trg Petr Preradovic with Ilica near Trg Jelaćić, also sells theater tickets.
Theatre
The Croatian National Theater in the neo-baroque style, at the Marśal Tito Way 15, was founded in 1895 r. It hosts ballet and opera performances, and the ticket office is open Mon-Fri. 10.00-19.30, sb. 10.00-13.00. You can buy a seat in the audience (parquet), in the box (bed) or on the balcony [balcony).
Comedy Theater (Chapter 9), near the cathedral, shows operettas and musicals.
The ticket office of the Vatroslav Lisinski concert hall is located south of the train station (pn.-pt. 9.00-20.00, sb. 9.00-14.00).
Concerts are also held at the Academy of Music (Gundulicieva 6a, block of Ilica). For Puppet Theater performances (Baruna Trenka Street 3) you can go on Saturdays Fr. 17.00 and Sundays Fr. 12.00.
Discos
The most popular in Zagreb is the Sokol Klub disco opposite the Ethnographic Museum (-r.-nd. 22.00-4.00, 8 $). On Wednesday, concerts with live music are held here.

Sports events
Basketball is very popular in Zagreb. From October to April, the matches take place in Ci-bona Centar (Sava road 30, opposite the Technical Museum), usually on Saturdays, Fr. 19.30. Tickets are bought at the entrance.
On Sunday afternoons, football matches are played at the Maksimir Stadium (Maksimirska 128) in the eastern part of Zagreb (access by trams #4, #7, #11 i #12 to Bukovac). If you have some time, you can join the Zoo, which is on the other side of the street.
Shopping
Ilica is Zagreb's main shopping street. You can also shop at the Nama department store on Ilica, near Trg Jelaćić. You can also buy souvenirs here.
You can purchase CDs with folk music from the Fonoteca section, at the Nama department store (Ilica 6) and in Orpheus (Mirka Bogovicia Street 1, a block away). In the Rulcotrorine store (Ilica 52) there is a large selection of beautiful handicrafts, such as Croatian dolls, wooden products, dishes, tablecloths and glass.
All shops in the strip below the tracks, next to the train station, are open for a long time.
