Finding accommodation in high season is not easy. Out of absence, actually
any choice, prices cannot be negotiated (usually too tall), so it is worth thinking about booking in advance.
The prices in the various properties are given in the description of individual places. Attention! They come from official price lists, during the peak season. Outside of it, it is cheaper, sometimes much - e.g.. 3-you. apartment in the Pelaton estate in Vrsar, which you had to pay for in the high season 80 €, in the second half of September it cost 25 €. By renting a room on 1-3 wot, you have to reckon with a higher price than in the case of longer stays.
Wanting to book an overnight stay, it is worth using the addresses of tourist facilities and agencies provided next to the descriptions of individual places in this guide. It does not hurt to look at the websites of selected towns (www addresses in individual chapters). The website www.adriatica.net is useful, through which you can search and book accommodation throughout Croatia. People who like risk can, of course, go "blind", however, the chance of finding cheap accommodation in the most popular places is then slim.
Due to price differentiation (even in properties of the same category, that is, the number of stars) it is difficult to determine the average room rate. In an average hotel in summer, two costs 30-60 € / night. We can assume, that in July and August it is slightly more expensive in Istria (but that doesn't mean it, that the south of the country is cheap). Off the coast (except Zagreb) prices are dropping significantly. For example, in July for a double room. in private accommodation in Baśka Voda, the request was made 30-40 €. A room of the same standard on a transit route in the interior of the country cost 20 € (However, there are very few such offers and they are difficult to find, because they are usually only advertised by signs by the property).
The best accommodation option seems to be a room with a kitchenette and a bathroom in a private accommodation, booked before leaving Poland. Coming in with a few people, it is best to book an apartment, e.g.. 6-personal, consisting of 2-3 rooms, kitchenette and bathroom, which is cheaper than three separate double rooms.
Hotel. Tourist and leisure facilities by the sea have their own beaches, swimming pools, indoor swimming pools, sauna, gyms, solaria. Most places are reserved in advance by travel agencies for the whole season for organized groups. Sample prices (for individual tourists) in the cheapest hotels in summer (for a double room): Gaul, Anyway 36,50 €, Mediterranean, Rabac 23-35 €, My Peace, Savudrija 27-37 €, Kacjak, Crikvenica 26 €, Biokovka, Makarska 33-37 €, The summers, Dubrovnik 40 €.
Motels, usually located on major routes, in addition to restaurants, they have rooms for travelers. In the interior of the country, they are sometimes the only easy-to-find accommodation in the area. Moreover, gostionice can be found along the roads in villages and small towns (highways, inn, inns) – small family hotels with a few (a dozen or so at most) beds.
Prices in gostionice and motels depend on the place: in the east of Croatia, near the border with Hungary it may be 10 €/os., in the village of Granieac on the Karlovać-Knin route 20 €/os., and even more on the coast.
Youth hostels. There are only a few shelters across the country (youth hotel): in Zagreb (210 seats), Puli (180 seats), Zadar (290 seats), Dubrovnik (82 places), Veli Losinj (60 seats), Neck (60 seats), Punat (90 seats). In high season, places must be booked well in advance, because accommodation in hostels is eagerly ordered by groups of Croatian youth. Addresses and prices of accommodation in all such facilities can be found next to the descriptions of individual towns.
Campsites. There are a lot of campsites in Croatia (camps, campsites), similar in terms of standard and prices. Only at the seaside there are approx. 120. The best equipped, equal to the average Western European standards, are in Istria. The ones in the Kvarner Bay area and in Dalmatia seem a bit poorer (although this is not necessarily the case).
Sample prices: Puntiźela, Anyway 4,90 €/os., 2,50 € / child, 5,40-9,40 €/installment, 2,60 €/power connection; Kate, Mlini near Dubrovnik 3,50 €/os., 1,80 € / child, 5,30 € / per-litter and car, 6,35 € / caravan and car, 1,60 €/ electricity connection. Small "backyard" campsites are sometimes cheaper, which can even be located in the garden next to the property (e.g.. at the exit of the bus towards Paklenica National Park).
Wild camping is prohibited (as is sleeping in a car in a roadside parking lot), and in the event of a failure, it may result in severe sanctions. It should be remembered, that any foreigner staying in Croatia longer than 24 hours should check in.
Tourist estates. Tourist estates (Tunstić settlement), on the outskirts of cities or outside of them, they usually have an elegant hotel, apartment complex and campsite. Guests can make use of the recreational and sports facilities. The estates are located mainly in Istria and Dalmatia. Sample prices: Verudela Point, Anyway 60-73 € / apartment 2-3-os., 81-107 € / apartament 4—5-os., 98-113 € / apartament 6-os.; Poseidon, Vranac on the island of Korcula 47-55 € / apartament 3-os., 55-64 € / apartament 4-os.
Private accommodation and apartments
Private accommodation is popular among tourists – generally 2-person rooms. with balcony and bathroom (own or shared with another room).
In popular places, it is best to rent them through travel agencies. You can also stay in the accommodation for a shorter period (up to three nights you pay Fr. 30% more). On the coast, especially on the bus, accommodation is offered by many Croatians. You should look for signs labeled sobe or its foreign equivalents: Rooms vacant, rooms, rooms.
Vacation apartments, i.e. apartments (apartments), they generally have a separate entrance, kitchen and bathroom. They are rented almost exclusively by travel agencies.
Prices of decent double rooms. in private accommodation on the coast in summer they start from 30 € / night, off season from 20 €.
Check-in and tourist tax. In holiday resorts, the climate tax should be added to the price of each accommodation (sojourn tax). Its amount depends, among others. from class (A, B, C, D), to which the town has been qualified, and from the tourist season. In the summer 2004 r. in the localities of category A, the tax was 7 kn / person, 3,5 kn / 12-18 years, younger children for free, in localities of category D - 4 kn / person, 2 kn / 12-18 years. Proof of payment of the climate tax (and at the same time checking in) is a residence permit certificate. In practice, many owners of private accommodation "forget" both about the climate tax, as well as about checking in, especially for tourists who rent a room for 1-2 nights.
Owners of accommodation places in tourist destinations are obliged to check in their guests within 24 hours after their arrival. To do this, you must leave an identity document (passport) at the hotel reception (the campsite), in a Croatian travel agency intermediating in the rental of accommodation or to the owner of a room in private accommodation. The manager of the hotel or the owner of the accommodation unit is obliged to provide the tourist with a confirmation of check-in (poturda on registration with fighters), which is both proof of payment of the climate tax and the tax.
